Secret spot

Tristan and I found a secret waterfront play spot today. It's a blocked off boat launch on Lake Washington and it's wonderful for us. Since it's a boat launch it's a gentle ramp down to the water; and because it's blocked off for use as a boat launch, there's no one around. Perfect!

We had a grand time. Tristan swam out to investigate an old piling sticking out of the water. I'm sure he meant to herd it into shore until he discovered it was inanimate. We played a lot of fetch with sticks and a Kong. Tristan isn't much of a Kong fan but he was quite willing to overlook the Kong's shortcomings (it isn't round) so long as it was thrown in the water for him to fetch. A slight problem arose when the "floatable" Kong stopped floating. Tristan went underwater once to look for it but that was it. He kept searching but only with his nose above water. He's a very serious dog paddler but deep lake diving is not for him. Luckily there were plently of driftwood sticks to keep the game going.

Tristan also did his obligatory flower pose. I love poppies.

Swinging Tristan

Tristan and I visited a nice little rustic park in Sultan today. We've been before and I enjoy it because there's rarely anyone there and Tristan can romp around.

I sat down on the swing set expecting Tristan would run back and forth and maybe woof at me while I was swinging. Not hardly. Tristan immediately decided he wanted to get on the other swing and go for a ride himself. He was really determined and kept working at it - utterly convinced that he could launch himself into the swing for a grand ride. He's such a hoot.
